Idaho Trip

August 24-26, 2012

This August we took a little trip up to see Jared's Uncle Sonny in Idaho, and check out his horses.  We took Jared's mom and dad along with us too...Marlene wanted to see her brother and his place too.

Shoshone Falls

Shoshone Falls is a waterfall on the Snake River located approximately five miles east of Twin FallsIdaho. Sometimes called the "Niagara of the West," Shoshone Falls is 212 feet (64.7 m) high—45 feet (14 m) higher than Niagara Falls—and flows over a rim 1,000 feet (305 m) wide.

We stopped off in Twin Falls to see Shoshone Falls.  I wanted to bring Chris here because it was a favorite place of his Great-Great-Grandpa Scotty's.  I was lucky enough to get to go here once with him and Grammy, and I wanted to give Chris the chance to see it too.

We were lucky enough to get a good shot of the falls with a rainbow

We had to go and stop at the Harley Davidson shop in Boise
A cute picture of Chris holding Jared and Jarold's hands walking into the Harley shop

Hell's Canyon

Hells Canyon is a 10-mile (16 km) wide canyon located along the border of eastern Oregon, eastern Washington and western Idaho in the United States. It is North America's deepest river gorge at 7,993 feet (2,436 m) and part of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area.
The canyon was carved by the waters of the Snake River, which flows more than 1 mile below the canyon's west rim on the Oregon side and 7,400 feet below the peaks of Idaho's Seven Devils Mountains range to the east. Most of the area is inaccessible by road.

As we were driving back up the canyon we came across this black bear

we soon realized that this was actually a mommy black bear.....

and her cub was sitting right behind us!....
we quickly got back to the car so that we wouldn't get the mom any more worked up and angry at us than we already had.  It was pretty neat getting to see these two.

Uncle Sonny's Horses

Chris had a good time checking out all of Uncle Sonny's horses, and all his "ranch".  I think he enjoyed climbing all the gates the most.
